ABOUT
Why Wonders in the World Exists
Wonders in the World is a home for stories about the quiet, awe-filled moments we share with the living planet — the ones that stay with us long after they’re over and ones we look forward to experiencing over and over.
In a world full of headlines about loss and crisis, it can be easy to forget that wonder still exists all around us: in the flash of a hummingbird’s wings, the hush of fresh snowfall, the glow of fireflies, the first unfurling of a sunflower. These stories don’t ignore the realities of our changing planet — they sit beside them, reminding us what we’re protecting, and why it matters.
Each story here is told in the voice of someone who has experienced that moment firsthand. Together, they form a growing patchwork of memories, grief, joy, and deep connection with the natural world. Our hope is that as you read, you feel a little more grounded, a little more in love with this planet, and a little less alone. We also hope to connect you with ways you can help save these wonders, whether through small actions you can take yourself or through organizations doing work to save these wonders.

Founder
Aidha Shaikh
Founder, Wonders in the World
Aidha has always been drawn to the quiet corners of the natural world - the places where small details feel like miracles. From fireflies and hummingbirds to the way dew hangs onto a blade of grass, twinkling galaxies, auroras, and the scent of flowers in the evening, these moments of wonder have shaped how she sees our relationship with the planet.
Wonders in the World grew out of a desire to create a gentle, welcoming space where those stories could live — a place where awe, grief, curiosity, and love for the Earth can coexist. Wonders aims to give readers like you inspiration and hope for the planet. While the things we love may be at risk, there are things we can do to help save them. Beyond this project, Aidha works on climate and nature-focused storytelling, video games, and tools that invite people to care more deeply for the world around them.
